Puerto Viejo - temptations abound!

If it hasn't happened already - it probably will. People have probably already tried to sell you their cabins in Puerto Viejo, their restaurant in Playa Cocles, their land in Chiquita Village or even their house in Punta Uva---all before you even arrive. We're not saying that's a bad thing at all....as long as you know what you're getting into. At the very least, there have been attempts to persuade you to stay at a particular little piece of paradise. You have probably heard countless attempts to convince you that although Caribe Sur is certainly out of the way, it's surely worth the time and investment to get here.

Some of what you hear is true---some of it isn't.

That's where we come in---we show you a little bit of what it's really like, just like it will be when you visit for the first time so that your expectations and what you get when you arrive are the same. We offer two DVD's that you can buy separately or as a set at a special price:

Part 1 - "Escape to Caribe Sur"including Puerto Viejo and Playa Chiquita Village

Part 2 - "Down to Manzanillo"including Playa Cocles, Punta Uva, Manzanillo and Punta Mona

Our videos are designed to give a glimpse of some of the things that Puerto Viejo and the Caribe Sur of Costa Rica are all about long before you arrive...to remind those of you who have already left of what you left behind, and to give everyone else something to live for. Maybe you have booked a trip to Costa Rica already (or seriously considering it.) For the right traveler, it can be a magical place waiting to happen or your next big disappointment if your expectations run too high. It could even become your next home, like it has become for many.

Upon arriving in Puerto Viejo

One of the first things someone will notice is that practically everyone is riding a bike. That's one of the things that most people are attracted to when they first visit. At only 3-5 bucks a day for a rental, it is one of the few places in all of Costa Rica where it is flat enough where even the greenest of bike riders can peddle until their hearts content---everybody does it.

Puerto Viejo is a perfect mix! In Puerto Viejo you will meet many global travelers and many people who live here speak some English, although with a Caribbean dialect. There are Dutch, Italian, and French business owners as well as others from around the world. Unlike in the rest of Costa Rica, English-only-speaking tourists will have no problems communicating.

Puerto Viejo is like Costa Rica used to be 20 years ago

long before it lost it's small town atmosphere and it's rustic appeal. That's a quality you will soon learn to appreciate. Laid back and slow paced, Puerto Viejo is a great place to relax. The small, owner-operated businesses add to the charm. But, the secret is catching on. In the not-so-distant future it will be big, booming and polished, just like it's predecessor---the Pacific. There are still great deals to be had---get them while you can.

From Puerto Viejo and Playa Negra all the way down to Manzanillo

These videos show exactly what that one-day trip is all about---from the point of view of a novice bike rider. In a near-real-time experience, it shows everything, exactly the way it will be seen upon arrival.

There are many videos out there that show places which can only be reached by helicopter or plane, or so remote that a regular traveler will never have the opportunity to reach it. Or they exhibit places that will only be seen if a lot of money is forked out to get there. This is not what this film is about. Whether 6 or 66, the viewer can expect to see exactly what can experienced without much effort---just strolling along or riding a bike. And with over 2 hours worth of video---it shows everything.
