Who should watch these DVD's?
The Caribbean side of Costa Rica is like no other in the country. It has it's own vibe, it's own culture -- even it's own language. Everyone would rather you believe that it is the perfect place. And in some ways it is--we love it here. But, as much as we would all like to believe that places that go by the name "Paradise" really do exist, they are few and far between. Many places in Costa Rica do come close, but Puerto Viejo (depending on what you are into) may or may not be one of them. We think it is...It is our belief that the one thing that was lacking about Puerto Viejo is an honest approach that shows you exactly what it's like, before you get here. That's why these videos were important for us to make. We know too many people that tell us time and time again, that they were expecting something "different".
You should definitely watch these videos if:
▪ You are traveling here for the first time ▪ You are trying to decide on places to add to your itinerary during your stay in Costa Rica ▪ You are a travel agent who has never seen the light of day of the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. ▪ You are long gone or are searching for a special souvenir, but still haven't found it. ▪ You are on your way, but can't decide if Playa Negra, Puerto Viejo, Playa Cocles, Chiquita Village, Punta Uva, or Manzanillo is the right place for you - our suggestion is that you should. ▪ You are considering moving here or buying real estate or property here. These videos are a sightseeing travelogue
They can be used for destination and excursion planning, a souvenir, additional tourist or vacation information or simply learning more about what Puerto Viejo and the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica has to offer. This video offers you the sights and sounds of the jungle countryside and what one bike ride between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo has to offer.More than anything, these videos offer you valuable insight so that you can get the most out of your visit or make a decision as to whether or not this is indeed the right place for you.
Is Puerto Viejo and the Caribe Sur on your itenerary?
These videos are for people who may be considering traveling to Costa Rica or have already planned their trip and are considering adding Puerto Viejo and the Caribe Sur to their itinerary. Keep in mind that when traveling to Puerto Viejo, it is a considerable distance from San Jose. Going to and from Puerto Viejo is a big commitment that may (or may not) be better spent elsewhere. That is---unless you are spending more than just a few days, or a week in the country. This video shows you what you could be getting yourself into---if you are one of the lucky ones.Because the stories you've heard may or may not be true and if a picture is still worth a thousand words..video is worth millions.
Puerto Viejo is anything but a sleepy little town
It lies 34 miles south east of Puerto Limon, and about 10 miles south of Cahuita (sort of). No longer just a fishing village, Puerto Viejo has a unique character like no other place in the whole country. Puerto Viejo continues to grow as a destination for those wanting to escape to a more laid back place, or who would rather avoid the huge resorts of European and Gringo influences that are eating up the Pacific coast. Puerto Viejo and the surrounding areas boast a unique blend of Afro-Caribbean vibe, Costa Rican and indigenous cultures. In a single word, it's---lively.Get lost in Puerto Viejo
It's easy to do...or spend weeks exploring Playa Cocles, Playa Chiquita, Punta Uva, and Manzanillo---just you, your bike and bottled water and nature without ever having to spend much money. That's what these videos are about---getting lost in a world that initially doesn't seem part of our own---but soon becomes a way of life. These two DVD's are about a place that resembles how Costa Rica used to be. Not like it is today in San Jose, or certainly not like it is on the Pacific side where big resorts are monopolizing. One day, that will change. The other Costa Rica
If you are visiting Costa Rica for only a few days or if you are expecting something posh or cushy, this may not be the perfect place for you. It is not the easiest place to reach and the conditions when you arrive may seem a bit harsh, or may not necessarily suit you. With that in mind, most people, after spending a short amount of time here, rarely want to leave---while others camp out all night long at the only bus stop in town waiting for the next ride to something more suitable. Both DVD's give you an honest look at what you will see when you arrive before you make the investment or have lost much time in getting here. It's not just the ambiance that sets this place a world apart
Bars, discos and restaurants abound; reasonably priced accommodations and hotels are everywhere. But, it's difficult to say as to whether or not Puerto Viejo is "Costa Rica at it's best." In most cases, it doesn't feel like Costa Rica at all. for many---that's a good thing. for some, it may not be a suitable match. Surely, it all depends on who you're talking to. for those who have called it home, there is no place that even comes close. It's not just the ambience that sets this place a world a part - it takes along time to get here from the more popular Pacific side. But, on the Pacific side, you can't bike through thick jungle canopy right on the edge of the ocean either. That's another thing that adds to the charm here---bikes. They are the main mode of transportation, along with scooters and 4-wheelers---and you won't find this in too many places throughout Costa Rica---there's too many steep hills for the average biker. The tropical heat and Afro-Caribbean vibes run hand in hand with everything the Caribbean Coast has to offer. the charm of the place goes beyond natural beauty---it lies within the hearts and soul of the local inhabitants...in their customs, their cooking and their laid back attitudes. No doubt about it---we love it here and we hope you do too.
